Plastic Free Amersham

We live in a plastic world. It’s an extraordinarily useful, versatile, cheap material. It’s everywhere and it’s a growth industry, with one in every ten barrels of oil now used to create new plastic. Plastic pollution is one of the biggest global environmental threats of our age.

Our ambition is to get local businesses, schools, and community organisations on board to stop using avoidable single-use plastics like drinks bottles, coffee cups and lids, drinking cups, plastic bags, and condiment sachets to become a Plastic Free Community (a national campaign run by Surfers Against Sewage) by 2025. It’s not about removing all plastic from our lives: it’s about breaking our dependency on avoidable single-use plastic. Together, we can make this happen, to make sure we don’t choke our streets, parks, playgrounds, and waterways with it.
