Did you know that, in the UK, 97% of native wildflower meadows have disappeared leading to a reduction of around 64% of insects? These little creatures are really important in our ecosystems and for our food production!
Take part in No-Mow-May by simply not mowing your lawn for a month to provide food and shelter for insects.
Try these ideas with your kids:
- Keep “invading” lawn mowers out with string and these signs
- Colour these cards
- Use this species spotter
- Register your garden in the No-Mow-May map.
- Try Bioblitzing your garden to measure what is there!
- Build a Bug Mansion or Mini-Pond
- Learn about Snails and Slugs (hello unsung heroes!).
- Read one of these lovely books
- Watch out for some extra activities and walks coming from Wild Amersham!
