How to live sustainably
There are many personal actions you can take to live a sustainable live in the community. Every little helps!
- Change your current account to a sustainable bank like Triodos, and make sure your pension is invested in sustainable funds (most pension providers now have a sustainable option).
- Improve energy efficiency in your home and find free energy improvement workshops
- Repair broken items like phones, clothes and furniture – check the date of our next local repair cafe
- Buy 2nd hand items and clothes (from charity shops and recycling apps).
- Recycle items you don’t need – or donate them to charity shops – instead of throwing them away
- Share journeys and fly less.
- Try to eat plant-based foods as much as possible, avoiding beef, dairy and lamb as these have the biggest carbon footprint.
- When it’s time to buy your next car, get an electric or hybrid one.
- Get your fruit and veg delivered with minimal packaging (we love Riverford organic farmers and Oddbox) and buy in bulk locally.
- Volunteer to help sustainable Amersham!
