Come with us on a winter nature walk up an old drover’s route and visit Shardeloes Lake. We’ll also be getting coffee/lunch after in a local cafe and you’re welcome to join!
We will meet under the market hall in Old Amersham at 10.30. If the weather is likely to be bad we will postpone the walk and let participants know the evening before by email.
The walk will be led by Wild Amersham volunteers Marieke and Adrian, and we will look at trees, winter plant life, and birds.
This two hour gentle walk is suitable for adults and children 5 years and over. As we will be looking for wildlife it is not suitable for dogs. The route will include uneven ground and a hill and paths may be muddy; wear sturdy, waterproof shoes and bring binoculars if you have them.
Buy your tickets on eventbrite – we ask for a small donation to cover Wild Amersham’s costs and help it do more for local nature.
This event is organised by Wild Amersham, part of Sustainable Amersham. We are a local community group that encourages local people to appreciate and protect local nature. We organise nature events and help restore local habitats.
How did it go?
15 people had a lovely walk exploring nature in old Amersham. They learned about the biodiversity (and ancient yew trees) of churchyards, trout in the River Misbourne, and seeds and buds on winter trees. Everyone also played water bird bingo at Shardeloes Lake. We then had lovely coffee and lunch together at the Swan in Old Amersham.
