Wild Gym Rake and cake – 9th November

This event has now happened

Come and join other volunteers to help remove the grass cuttings and autumn leaves so they don’t clog up our wildflower meadows.

There will be various jobs to do, including raking – and cake will be on offer!

What happened at this event

This was held on Saturday 9 November 1-4pm at Amersham Hospital.

All the work was done quickly and well. There were 7 volunteers, 2 who did this work as part of their secondary school volunteering scheme.

We raked off the cut grass and fallen leaves to ensure soil will not become enriched which many wildflowers do not like. We also put back the pegs and string demarcating the meadow, and cut back some tree shoots.

Our volunteers really enjoyed it:

“I loved it and want to be involved in future work parties”

“It’s so satisfying seeing the difference you’ve made before and after”
