Toad Patrol – March

This event has happened

Several Wild Amersham volunteers helped the Bucks Amphibian and Reptile Group with its toad patrols.

At this time of year toads, frogs, toads and newts travel to their home ponds to spawn when it gets dark. Sadly, they are often squashed by cars. Toad patrols help them across the road.

How it went

We had 6 volunteers who patrolled in Chesham Bois and Colehill on several evening. We had great success saving toads, newts and frogs. On one session we saved over 15 amphibians!

We had lovely feedback: “‘I was so happy being out and finding and helping these marvellous creatures together with other lovely volunteers – what a great way to spend an evening”
