Sustainable Amersham Book Club – April

The Sustainable Amersham Book Club has launched!

This month we discussed ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer, to delve into indigenous wisdom, scientific knowledge, and the teachings of plants.

Anyone can dip in and out of the book club depending on whether you can make the date, or are interested in the next book.

The Sustainable Amersham Book Club had its first meeting in the winter to discuss an excellent book about the UK’s food strategy, and its impact on health and the environment. This was ‘Ravenous: How to Get Ourselves and Our Planet Into Shape’ by Henry Dimbleby, author of the National Food Strategy.

Everyone agreed that a book group is a great way to really focus on a subject, and learn from the discussions.

We also met in January, to discuss the Pulitzer winning “The Overstory“. The book is about nine Americans whose unique life experiences with trees bring them together to address the destruction of forests.
