The Repair Cafe is a place where you can bring broken items, and our volunteer repairers work their magic to bring them back to life for free!
Repairing instead of replacing items saves you money and reduces both waste and consumption, which helps the planet.
We tackle a wide range of repairs, including:
- electrical
- electronic
- tech advice for phones and laptops
- gluing
- sharpening
- sewing
- carpentry
- costume jewellery
- basic bike maintenance
You can also bring old electrical cables for recycling (for example, power leads and old ethernet cables).
The types of repairs that are available depend on volunteer availability – check our Instagram post the week before the café for updates.
We can’t repair white goods (for example, washers or dryers) or microwaves.
Technical support for phones, laptops and small electronics
We can help you work out what’s wrong and what you need to fix it:
- fault diagnosis
- software troubleshooting
- straightforward physical fixes
- replacement-part identification (batteries, screens, etc.)
Christmas houseplant swap
Bring any houseplants you’d like to swap, and find new ones to take home – brighted up your home or find an early Christmas present. If you don’t have plants to bring, a small donation helps support the work of Sustainable and Wild Amersham.
How the repair cafe works
We start at 10am and last repairs are taken between 12pm and 12.30pm. Come early to avoid the queues!
- bring a maximum of 2 things to repair
- our friendly volunteers will greet you and let you know what to do
- you will need to wait until an appropriate repairer is available
While you wait you can
- get a free cup of coffee or tea and a slice of homemade cake,
