Plants and Places: An Amersham Amble – 17th May

10:30 to 12:30 – Amersham Museum, 49-51 High Street, Amersham HP7 0DP

Join a local botanist for a gentle walk around the lanes and fields of Old Amersham.

This is the first of 3 walks in a series, taking place in spring, summer and autumn, and jointly organised by Amersham Museum and Wild Amersham. Each walk follows the same route, helping us to notice the seasonal changes as we progress through the year. The walk is 1.5 miles long and will last two hours. On these you will:

  • Discover the plants that grow on your doorstep
  • Learn about the geography and history of your local landscape
  • Find out how our use of the land has changed over the years
  • Enjoy views over Old Amersham

This is a gentle walk over 1.5 miles, lasting two hours. Please wear sensible shoes. Dogs are welcome.

It costs £6.50 for adults but it’s free for under 18s. Sign up on the Chiltern’s walking festival website

The walk is led by Karen van Oostrum. Karen has a love of plants and the environment, and enjoys sharing this with others, through courses and guided walks. A Biology graduate of Oxford University with a Ph. D. in wheat genetics, Karen was Head of Education at Cambridge University Botanic Garden for several years, and has worked with people of many ages from diverse backgrounds.
