New Year’s Plant Hunt (1-4 January)

10:30am to 12:30pm 1st Jan, Old Amersham Market Hall, HP7 0JD

The Central Chilterns Botany Group is holding a New Year Plant Hunt on 1st January in Old Amersham as part of the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland’s nationwide plant survey (which runs from 1st to 4th January).

Join the Central Chilterns Botany Group for a gentle New Year’s walk to spot and record any wild plants still in flower. These small observations feed into a national dataset used by researchers to understand how plant behaviour is shifting with changes in climate and seasonal patterns. Learn something new, and meet others who care about nature.

For anyone interested in sustainability, this is one of the easiest ways to contribute to real environmental science. Even a handful of plant records can help strengthen the evidence base that informs conservation work and local decision-making.

Your findings help build a national picture of how our local plants are responding to climate change, a small but meaningful way to contribute to real environmental data.

Email the Central Chilterns Botany Group at ecorocker@gmail.com, if you’d like to attend.  You are welcome to turn up on the day but it is useful for the Group to know who is coming and so they do not set off without you.

If you’d rather participate independently, you can also log any flowering wild plants you find in your own area using the BSBI app!
