Litter picking

We are fortunate to live in a town in the beautiful Chiltern area of Bucks and yet too often the landscape is used as a place to dump litter. From our streets to our parks and woodlands you can find rubbish at every turn. Not only is this unsightly but it poses a danger to our children, pets and wildlife.

Every year there is a Great British Spring Clean Campaign when small armies of people gather together to litter pick. In Amersham Town alone 100 bags of litter were collected at the event which was rescheduled to September 2020 due to COVID. Details of the next event can be found at Keep Britain Tidy (28 May-13 June 2021).

Anyone in the local area can volunteer and support the campaign. In the meantime why not grab a litter-picker of your own and a bag and see how much you can collect on just one walk? Alternatively, borrow one from the new refill shop at the Little Walkers Café. There will be four litter-pickers available to use: simply pop in, collect your litter, dispose of it responsibly and return the litter-picker to the shop. Hand sanitiser will be available to use on pick up and drop off.
